The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning for the Navarro River where it crosses Highway 128. According to he NWS, heavy overnight rainfall was expected to push the river over it's banks sometime in the late morning Saturday. More than three-inches of rain fell in parts of the county overnight. As of 7:15 a.m. Saturday, the river was at 17.3 feet, according to the NWS. Flood stage is 23 feet. The NWS was expecting minor flooding on Highway 128 at Navarro, about five miles from the intersection with Highway 1. The road was expecte to be closed and drivers were encouraged to find alternate routes and not attempt to drive through the floodwaters. Most vehicles will float if submerged in only two-feet of water, according to the NWS Drivers should call CalTrans to check road conditions at 1-800-427-7623.
