HELP SAVE SAN ONOFRE BEACH

San Onofre Beach is a special place that can't be replaced.  But it's in danger of being paved over to make way for a pointless toll road that will only benefit the agency that wants to build it.  You can help stop it.

Experts say the toll road will do little to alleviate traffic congestion in the area.  What it will do is destroy this beloved state park and put 11 endangered and threatened species at greater risk of extinction -- including arroyo toads, California gnatcatchers, Pacific pocket mice and steelhead trout.
RSVP now to attend an important hearing in Del Mar this Monday, September 22nd and help show just how much southern Californians care about preserving this amazing place and the unique wildlife it supports.
What: Hearing on the San Onofre Toll Road Proposal
When: Monday, September 22nd, from 10:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
Come any time and stay as long as you can!
Where: Del Mar Fairgrounds - O'Brien Hall
2260 Jimmy Durante Boulevard
Del Mar, CA  92014
Despite overwhelming public opposition, a group of Orange County politicians is pulling all the stops to build a 6-lane toll road through the heart of San Onofre Beach, one of the best utilized and most beloved natural areas in southern California.

But we need to be vigilant to stop this disaster in the making.  These politicians have lots of money and stand to make even more by building this road.
The truth is, this is one of the most environmentally destructive and regressive transportation proposals in California history. The toll road project will cost California taxpayers $875 million, permanently close up to 60% of San Onofre Beach, and severely degrade the rest of this special place. There are much better ways to alleviate traffic without destroying San Onofre Beach.
RSVP now to attend the hearing on Monday and help send a strong message that Californians oppose this toll road.  You'll be in good company.  Hundreds, maybe thousands, are expected to come out to help save San Onofre Beach.  There won't be an opportunity to speak at the hearing, so the main point will be to assemble a crowd that the opposition just can't ignore.
