Laguna Beach, CA, will be

Occording to the Orange County Register,
Laguna Playhouse of Laguna Beach, CA, will
be making cutbacks and changes due to declining
revenues. In addition to laying off four members
of the full-time production staff, downsizing
measures include moving out of their leased
property in Laguna Hills, which was used as a
rehearsal space and for instruction
classrooms. They have no plans however, to
leave their mainstage facility at the
Moulton Theatre. Laguna
Playhouse's 2010-2011 season will be
announced in the coming weeks and is expected to
feature five productions compared to their
previous seasons of sevens shows.
Founded in 1920, the
Laguna Playhouse is one of the oldest
continuously-operating theatres on the West
Coast, and has evolved from an amateur theater
into a professional League of Resident Theatres
(LORT).
More than 100,000 theatergoers annually
attend performances at the
Laguna Playhouse. Noted for its Award
Winning Youth Theater, Education and Community
Outreach programs,
The Playhouse's continued growth, expansion,
artistic excellence, audience popularity and
critical acclaim have helped make it one of
Southern California's most important nonprofit
