‘Nutcracker for Kids’ – A highlight in Pacific Symphony season’s festivities on December 12

by Lydia E. Ringwald

Pacific Symphony and Festival Ballet offer two performances of  ‘Nutcracker for Kids’ on Saturday, December 12, at 10 am.and11:30 am, especially designed to for children
5 – 11.

Excerpts from the Tchaikovsky’s famous ‘Nutcracker’ musical composition and the classical  ‘Nutcracker’ ballet choreographies are designed into a one-hour performance that highlights such enchanting compositions as ‘The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairies’ and many other enticing ‘Nutcracker’ tunes that have become perennial family favorites for over a century.

In addition to ‘Nutcracker for Kids,’ both Pacific Symphony and Festival Ballet offer extensive Outreach programs throughout the year that share the power and beauty of classical music and dance to the Orange County community.  The orchestra and ballet company often travel to public schools or community center sites, to reach the public.

The collaboration of Pacific Symphony and Festival Ballet Theater in ‘Nutcracker for Kids,’ brings young audiences into the elegant Renee and Henry Segerstrom Concert Hall to enjoy not only the power of a live orchestral performance and ballet but also to appreciate the architectural majesty of the luxurious Orange County concert facility.

Parents and families should watch for performance announcements of Pacific Symphony’s generous Outreach enrichment program scheduled in Orange County throughout the year and for Festival Ballet Theater’s Ballet To Schools, Arts Teach, performances offered in the public schools.

To celebrate the Season, Festival Ballet Theater offers a full length classical ‘Nutcracker’ ballet at the Irvine Barclay Theater December 11 – 21 featuring American Ballet Theater stars Irina Dvorovenko and Maxim Deloserkovsky in performances scheduled December 11-13 and Paloma Herrera and Gennadi Saveliev in the December 19 and 20 performances along with the cast of Festival Ballet company and dancers from Southland Ballet Academy.
