CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY

The Newport Beach Film Festival celebrates its 10th anniversary with an
Opening Night screening on April 23 of ‘Lymelife,’ the story of two
dysfunctional families after an outbreak of Lyme disease spreads illness and
paranoia in their community
After the red carpet screening of ‘Lymelife,’ the Festival will host an
Opening night Gala at Bloomingdales courtyard in Fashion Island with over 20
Newport Beach restaurants, a fashion show and a performance by Cirque du
Soleil’s ‘Zumanity.’
In the closing night romantic comedy, ‘(500) Days of Summer, ‘ a young man
meets the challenge of upholding the ideal of cosmically destined love in a
cynical modern world. Following the premiere screening of ‘(500) Days of
Summer,’ Newport Beach Film Festival celebrates at Via Lido Plaza Courtyard
(3459) Via Lido Drive with over a dozen restaurants offering a delectable
buffet, live entertainment and other festivities.
A special international Action Sport Film Series spotlights twenty
documentary, animated and short films of athletes in the realms of surfing,
skiing, snowboarding, motocross and wakeboarding. Sponsored by FUEL, TV,
SURFING magazine and Etnies, sports films will screen at the Regency Lido
theater and Edward Island Cinema with a kick-off party on April 24 at 6 pm.
Screening on Saturday, April 25 at the Regency Theater, is the world
premiere of ‘Street Dreams’ along with world premiers of ‘Echo beach, a
local OC-produced film portraying the emerging surf culture in Newport Beach
in the 1980’s.
The Festival will showcase more than 400 films from over 30 countries, with
nightly special events, red carpet galas, post screening receptions,
symposiums with filmmakers, international spotlights, industry seminars and
retrospectives. Festival filmgoers may mingle with Hollywood celebrities
and filmmakers from around the globe.
