Symphony Pops series scintillates in Spring 2009
with a unique opportunity to experience the
screening of the original 1925 silent film
‘Phantom of the Opera,’ starring Lon Chaney
accompanied by organist Dennis James performing
the chilling soundtrack to the classic film – a
double delight for music and film aficionados to
listen the recently installed William J.
Gillespie concert Organ at the Renee and Henry
Segerstrom Concert Hall while viewing the rare
classic horror silent film on screen. Organist
Dennis James tours worldwide with his Silent
Film Concerts production company and is renowned
for performing the mot comprehensive selections
of authentic silent films with live music
accompaniment available today.
May 14-16 Pacific Symphony Pops features members
of the Broadway musical “Beatlemania” performing
a medley of Classical Mystery Tour Beatles hits
with Pacific Symphony.
Spring Pacific Symphony Classics features a
violin performance of Sarah Change balancing a
program of whimsical and lighthearted Richard
Strauss opera to deeply passionate and intense
rendition of Brahms’ Violin Concerto.
