We Olive – Charming Belmont Shore Olive Specialty Store Hosts Olive, Wine and Cheese Tastings

By Lydia E. Ringwald

‘We Olive,’ the charming Belmont Shore Olive specialty store hosts olive, wine and cheese tasting, with the first of the season event last week.

A medley of cheeses from Belmont Shore’s Venissimo Cheese were matched with wine from Vin de Pays, Long Beach’s premiere wine collection at a lovely tasting event hosted at We Olive at 4725 E. 2nd St Long Beach.

The peppery, sharp sweet Blu del Monceniso from the rich Itanlian/French border farmlands was delightfully paired with a robust rosato, Forte Canto Negramorio Salento Rosado and topped with a light fruity Evoo olive oil from our native California Stockton area.

The tasting progressed with Scamorza, Pecorino Toscano and La Tur cheeses mated with Bosco Montepulciano D’Abruzzo, Montresor ‘Capitel della Crosara’ and Ruggeri Prosecco Argeo Brut wines all matched to complimentary  ‘We Olive’ olive oil specialties.

We Olive’s Tuscana-Bozzano Olive Ranch, with its medium pepper finish was a thrill, only to be matched by We Olive’s Pasolivo, bold, lush, peppery robust oil.

The final olive delight of the evening was the We Olive Meyer Lemon oil that We Olive customers may purchase from the vat at the store. All Olive oils are fresh and native California products. Since Olive oil is best fresh, it’s an advantage that it grows so plentifully in our native state.

We Olive patrons may return repeatedly to the store to fill their recycled We Olive glass bottle with more oil, an extra Green feature that confirms the olive store chain ‘s environmental consciousness and respect for the planet.

We Olive Host and Hostess for the evening events are Debby Glasgow and her business partner and soon-to-be husband Phil Brooks.

Debby, an Orange County School of Performing Arts dance student, who later operated her own dance studio in Los Alamitos, now dedicates herself to cultivating the clientele for the Belmont Shore branch of We Olive.  Phil, a native of South Africa, joined forces with Debby in their fledging We Olive business that celebrates its 8th month at the 4725 E. 2nd St. location.
