Freddy and Benny - "It takes one to know one!"
Freddy Glusman owner
of Piero's is politically well connected. He's the father in law of Tom
Letizia who manages campaigns and raises funds for Mayor Oscar Goodman,
a Piero's regular. Letizia is also the PR man for
Rick Rizzolo who for years condoned violence at the Crazy Horse Too.
Rizzolo was a regular Piero's customer and is suspected of being
Glusman's silent partner in his restaurant that like the Crazy Horse Too
is becoming infamous for acts of violence.
Glusman is listed on
trust deeds with Jerry, Danny, and Councilwoman Lois Tarkanian. Last
April, Jerry Tarkanian attended a
party at Glusman's Newport Beach Ritz Restaurant to honor convicted
racketeer Rizzolo. Sandra Murphy lives near Newport and was present at
the gala.
Becky Behnen during
her ownership of the Horseshoe contributed heavily to the campaigns of
our Sheriff, District Attorney, Mayor, and Council members. Her son is a
moron who is allowed to beat up women in Piero's, and has never been
arrested or prosecuted for his actions inside the restaurant.
Piero's has been the scene of two
attacks by Benny against defenseless women. The first was in 2000 when
he beat up Summer Stupak, the daughter of Stratosphere developer Bob
Stupak. The second occurred Monday night when he beat up Sandra Murphy.
After Summer's beating, Glusman told
the
LV Sun, "He's not welcome at Piero's anymore," referring to Summer's
father Bob.
I called Bob to tell him to stay away
from Piero's. He ignored my advice. I relayed that I'd been told that
kitchen employees sometimes spit in the food of unwelcome guests in
restaurants.
Even that didn't discourage Bob who
to this day continues to patronize his enemy's establishment, though he
told me he does it to show he's not afraid.
Freddy Glusman described Summer's
beating as "Like
the old Las Vegas" when interviewed by a reporter. "I didn't see
anything. I was in the other room. Benny didn't have anything to do with
it. He wasn't even in the goddamn room. He was sitting with Becky in the
other room."
Summer Stupak was quoted in the 2000
police report stating: "The owner of Piero's did nothing to intervene or
stop this assault." Benny was not arrested or prosecuted though a
complaint was filed.Seven years later, Glusman similarly described
Murphy's beating as "It was like old wild, wild West."
Murphy has not yet filed a complaint
against Behnen.
I have lived in this town since 1959,
and what happens in Piero's is nothing like the Las Vegas I remember!
Such violence would never have been tolerated let alone be condoned in
the "Old Las Vegas." The perpetrators would certainly have been arrested
and then permanently 86'ed from a restaurant after two such events.
The one and only time I have ever
been in Piero's, I and another man were forced to break up a fight.
We watched as a man was punched and
thrown across the room crashing into a table that turned over on an
elderly couple. No one who worked at the restaurant intervened including
Glusman's son who seemed to be enjoying the melee. When the waiters and
bus persons disappeared into the kitchen, my friend and I were forced to
intervene.
I appears that the Glusman's and
their friends take perverted pleasure in watching such acts of violence
in their restaurant -- a dangerous place I highly recommend you avoid. -
